Over the years, lifestyle of people have changed diversely. Man has valued money more
than relations and that eventually leaded to a lot of disturbed situations in the family. One
of them is abandoning the old aged. Time has brought in scenes where the old aged are
facing situations like the refugees in a war place. The ‘old age’ seems like a punishment to
many of the senior citizens. Along with the negative effects of urbanization there have been
positive outcomes too, as in the humanity is not lost completely- that’s where the NGOs
play a major role.
Non-profit Organizations have been working effectively and efficiently on this major
problem since decades now. Giving physical and emotional support to the elderly that need
them is just a pinch of the overall work they do. Economic dependency and busy schedules
are the prominent reasons why children give up on their aged parents.
Life in old aged homes are not always the same for all. Some of the elderly find it okay to
live a comfortable life there if taken care of well. While some are in distress and are
emotionally unstable having their own insecurities. It sometimes depends on the
management as well. NGOs are a pillar of strength and they are one of the important
institutions in the society.
In other circumstances, it not always the children. Many childless couples face the same
problem too, it includes the unmarried bachelors and spinsters too. During the early times,
joint family system was a solution to all these problems. Regularity in maintaining relations,
avoiding silly arguments and getting advice from the elderly were the keys to healthy
relations in the family.
The answer to this timely growing question is simple as that, the youngsters who are
achieving much goals and skyrocketing their careers need to find time to love and respect
relations, learn better moral values. This will bring about a pleasant change in the society.
